Dealing with big vehicles is not an easy task. So, to reduce this risk and help maintain a professional image for the industry, the government introduced the (CPC) Driver Certificate of Professional Competence for bus, coach drivers and lorry drivers. There are several courses available for CPC, all specifically designed to update and maintain the lorry, bus, and coach drivers’ knowledge and skills.

The first thing you need to ask yourself is why do you need to do your Driver CPC? It can get a bit murky sometimes around who does or doesn’t need a Driver CPC qualification. Once you qualify for a driving test for a truck or lorry, you must pass an initial Driver CPC qualification to drive for a living. After this, you need to maintain the licence with periodic training. Depending on when you passed your test(s), you might be able to skip straight to the periodic training.
