Typically speaking, training for your HGV licence costs around £1,900 to £4,999, which covers you for a 4-day practical training course, theory practice, CPC training, medical, pass protection (if you choose to take it) and employment assistance with Manpower.
It will typically take you between 6 and 20 weeks of training to acquire your HGV licence. The duration of the practical element is just 4 to 7 days, and this is the only period you'll need to take off from work.
You must be at least 18 years of age and possess a Cat D licence.
