HGV Training in County Tyrone

HGVT is proud to be a significant provider of commercial driver training in the UK. We train both individual and company drivers, providing high-quality combined with convenience and affordability. If you need any kind of commercial driver training, you can find it at one of our facilities.

Future HGV drivers in Northern Ireland deserve every opportunity to receive the best training they can in preparation for their new careers. That’s why we offer HGV training in County Tyrone. As with the training in all of our other locations, the training we provide in County Tyrone is of the highest possible standard for the benefit of each of our students. We exist for one reason and one reason only: to train new drivers who will go on to become contributing members of the haulage and transport industries.

We train for all classes of commercial driving licences, including:

The Category C licences are the ones held by those who drive lorries and other HGVs. If you intend to drive an articulated lorry, tipper truck, bin lorry, box truck, or heavy construction equipment, you will need one of the Category C licences. Category D licences are for passenger carrying vehicles (PCVs) including buses, coaches, and minibuses. We offer training for all of them.

As far as our HGV training in County Tyrone is concerned, new drivers can expect to be presented with all of the knowledge they will need to pass their exams and go on to be productive drivers. They will also learn and practice the skills necessary to drive large commercial vehicles. Rest assured that professional driving is not something that can be done without appropriate training. It is also not easy. Contrary to popular belief, professional driving is not a career of last resort that anybody can do. It requires a specific skill set and body of knowledge to do it effectively, efficiently, and safely.

Learn, Apply, Practice

We sometimes market our HGV training in County Tyrone as exam lessons. This is not random. The fact is that new drivers must pass a series of exams in order to obtain a commercial driving licence. We would not be meeting our commitment to students if our training did not include a heavy focus on passing those exams. To that end, we want students to learn, apply, and practice.

The learning portion involves undergoing classroom instruction that imparts a particular body of knowledge. Students are introduced to a broad range of topics covering everything from legal requirements to safe vehicle handling to the actual physics of driving large vehicles. It is no different than learning the principles of maths before actually applying them.

The application portion of training involves taking the knowledge learned and applying it to real-world situations. This is where comprehension is achieved. By seeing how the information one has learned is applied in the real world, students are able to comprehend what it is all about.

Last is the practice portion of training. This is where the drivers actually sit behind the wheel of a late-model vehicle and drive. Practice is absolutely essential in further cementing the application process and giving drivers an opportunity to hone their skills. They will need to be at their best when it comes time to be tested; practice gives students every opportunity to be at their best.

Four Tests for New Drivers

In 2008, the UK adopted the EU’s Driver CPC requirements for all commercial drivers. The adoption of those requirements meant that from 2009 an entirely new testing procedure was in place. What used to involve just two tests became a four test regimen that all new drivers must undergo in order to obtain their commercial driving licences. New drivers need not worry when they train with us; we make sure all of our drivers are ready to pass their tests the first time.

The four tests for new drivers are:

Our HGV training in County Tyrone can get you ready to take and pass all the tests with confidence. We can say this because our drivers are successful more than 90% of the time. We utilise a fast-paced and intense training approach that not only teaches you the information you need, but also helps you to comprehend it, remember it, and recall it when you are being tested.

We Are Committed to Your Success

Our HGV training in County Tyrone is not the only training course we offer. In fact, we offer dozens of courses at more than four dozen facilities throughout the UK. As the significant provider of commercial driver training in the UK, we have enjoyed tremendous growth over the years because of our commitment to the success of our drivers. Simply put, we only succeed if you succeed.

The entire HGV Training Centre team is on a mission to produce highly skilled drivers capable of being contributors in the workplace. For example, our instructors are former professionals themselves, so they know just what drivers can expect in the working world. Their experience is invaluable in the training process.

Our support staff is also committed to student success at every level. They are available to answer questions or provide guidance about specific class selections. They even handle all of the administrative tasks involved in training so that students can concentrate their energies on learning.

Our commitment to students even goes as far as our pricing structure. We are proud to say that the HGV Training Centre does not charge excessively high prices just because we can. Rather, we work very hard to keep our prices as low as possible in order to allow as many drivers as we can to take training. We go one step further by offering a financing package to those drivers who need it.
