How the Process Works

Every new student who signs up for our HGV training in East Sussex is immediately provided with two information packages. The first package is all about the HGV medical. In that package you will find the medical paperwork you will need to take to your doctor at the time of your exam. It also includes additional information about what the exam entails and what the government regulations say about the health of professional drivers.

The second information package is all about the provisional entitlement we mentioned earlier. • Multiple-Choice Questions – Part 1 of the test involves 100 multiple-choice questions of which you must get 85 correct. The questions test your knowledge of general road safety as applied to the operation of large, commercial vehicles.
• Computer-Based Videos – Part 2 of the theory test includes 19 videos containing 20 developing hazards that you are expected to identify. The test is designed to measure how quickly and correctly you can spot hazards in order to avoid them as you drive.

We provide all of our students with advanced training software that they can use to prepare for the theory test. The software includes actual questions taken from previous tests as well as multiple practice tests. This kind of preparation is invaluable to new drivers, inasmuch as it makes them familiar with what the actual test will be like. It boosts confidence and increases the chances students will pass.

After Passing the Theory Test

Our hands-on training puts students behind the wheel of a late-model vehicle for the purposes of learning the necessary driving skills, and then practising what they have learned.

The case studies test can be taken at any point during training; the physical skills and practical demonstration tests are scheduled at the conclusion of classroom and hands-on training. Our goal, as a training company, is to do everything we can to make sure you pass your tests on the first try. We do not want you to have to repeat anything if at all possible.

Pass Your Tests, Get Your Licence

The final step in the process of becoming a professional driver is to convert your provisional entitlement into a permanent licence. Your only part in the process is to pass your final two exams. Assuming you do, the examiner who worked with you during the examination process will forward your successful test results to the DVLA so that a permanent licence can be issued. You will receive that licence in the post.
