COURSE IN Hampshire

As you may know, Hampshire is one of the more affluent counties in England. It is a county inhabited by business professionals and others who are used to a particular kind of lifestyle. What you may not know is that the local lifestyle would not be possible if it were not for the dedication and hard work of HGV and PCV drivers. This is one of the reasons we established our HGV training in Hampshire.

Hands on the wheel of a HGV lorry during training in hanmpshire

As much as 70% of the freight and cargo that passes through the UK travels on the back of a lorry. Why is this important to the residents of Hampshire? Because ground transport is the most cost-effective means of getting consumer goods from origin to destination. It is a robust logistics industry that keeps our economy moving by providing low-cost consumer goods all across the UK – including Hampshire.

Our HGV training in Hampshire prepares students to become part of this exciting and vital industry. It is an industry populated by dedicated drivers who are masters of their craft, drivers who love what they do and have the skills and knowledge to do it safely. We are proud to be part of this industry in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Why You Should Train with Us

There are certainly other companies that provide HGV training in Hampshire. So why choose the HGV Training Centre? There are plenty of reasons, beginning with our industry reputation. The HGV Training Centre name means something, not only to employers but also to shippers and receivers. Everyone in the pipeline knows that drivers trained at our facilities are trained according to the highest possible standards.

Our reputation is further enhanced by our membership in the Freight Transport Association and Logistics Guild. Both organisations hold members to high standards of practice and operation for the benefit of the entire industry and its drivers. We must adhere to those standards in order to remain members in good standing.

Second, you should train with us because we deliver on our promises. We do not simply claim to provide the training you need to pass the four tests required to get a commercial driving licence; we actually make sure you pass. The first-time pass rate across all of our training programmes is consistently above 90%. The national average isn’t even close.

The primary reason for undergoing HGV training is test preparation. After all, no candidate can successfully obtain a commercial driving licence if he or she cannot pass each of the four exams. So if testing is the measurement, it would seem that a correlating measure of a training company’s success is its first-time pass rate. In that regard, our results speak for themselves.

The CPC Testing Regimen

The implementation of European CPC standards led to the CPC mandate we now operate under in the UK. This mandate dictates that all professional HGV and PCV drivers earn and maintain a valid CPC qualification card. Cards are good for five calendar years at a time. They are renewed by undergoing an additional 35 hours CPC training in the fifth year.

Brand-new drivers obtaining their commercial driving licences for the first time undergo CPC training as part of their programmes. The mandate includes four tests that must be taken and passed:

  • Theory Test – This is a two-part exam involving both multiple-choice questions and 19 videos. Both parts of the exam must be passed within two years in order to be valid; the two parts can be taken during the same session or in separate sections.
  • Case Studies Test – This test is required to obtain an initial CPC qualification card. It presents candidates with a number of scenarios they are likely to encounter in the workplace; the scenarios are accompanied by several multiple-choice questions gauging how the candidate would react in a real-world setting.
  • Driving Skills Test – The driving skills test takes a good look at whether a driver possesses the skills necessary to drive safely. It is also a two-part test involving drive time with the examiner on public roads and solo driving on a closed course at the testing facility.
  • Practical Demonstration Test – This ‘show me, tell me’ exam covers all the topics found in the Driver CPC syllabus. Candidates are asked specific questions that they are required to answer through a combination of verbal explanation and practical demonstration. This is the last test in the series.

Successful drivers will know right away whether or not they have passed each of their tests. The final two tests – the driving skills and practical demonstration tests – are taken together at the conclusion of formal training. Passing both results in a commercial driving licence being awarded, along with that initial CPC qualification card.

Fast and Affordable Training

How long do you think it takes to earn a commercial driving licence? If you expect it to take as long as a university degree programme, we have great news for you: it doesn’t. You can complete HGV training in Hampshire in a fraction of the time. While your friends are pursuing two- and four-year degree programmes, you can complete your training in under a month and immediately get to work.

Our training is fast because we do not waste students’ time dealing with things that are not related to the four tests listed above. Anything that needs to be learned above and beyond what is required by testing is information that can be learned on the job. In fact, employers tend to prefer things this way.

To further enhance the speed of our training, we also utilise a fast-paced and intense training methodology that presents information quickly and in bite-size chunks. This proven methodology takes advantage of short-term memory, enabling students to learn and retain – so that they can pass their tests on the first attempt.

We do all of this with the goal of getting as many new drivers into the industry as possible. Along those same lines, we strive to make sure our HGV training in Hampshire remains affordable. In short, we don’t charge exorbitantly high prices simply because others might. We constantly work to keep our costs as low as we can so that we can pass those savings on to our students by way of lower prices. The HGV Training Centre offers fast and affordable training that could be the key to your career as a professional driver.

Start Working in a Matter of Weeks

The training and licencing process in the UK are pretty straightforward. Students undergo a medical exam and apply for the provision of entitlement, they prepare for and take the HGV theory exam, and they undergo practical skills training that prepares them for the remaining three tests. Most of our students who learn quickly and apply themselves can complete training in a matter of weeks.

We do not anticipate you will have a problem completing your training either. But rest assured that our instructors will not leave you hanging if you are struggling. Rather, they will provide all of the extra help and support you need to succeed. Keep in mind that our success as a training company rests entirely on your success as a driver.

Once you have your licence, our services don’t stop. We offer job placement assistance to all successful students upon completion of training. Furthermore, many of our students return for ongoing CPC training every few years. They know they can count on us for the right kind of training that both meet legal standards and ensures that they are among the best in the business.

Or HGV training in Hampshire is signing up new students on a regular basis. You can get in on the next class by contacting us and registering. In so doing, you will be embarking on a very rewarding career in a job sector that is vital to the UK economy.
