You do not need a special towing licence to enjoy a new caravan experience in Bristol. All you need is a reservation and the willingness to camp on a roof. Thanks to the creative owners of the Brooks Guesthouse, guests can now camp out in rooftop caravans with views of the entire city and beyond.

Owners Andrew and Carla Brooks came up with a unique idea some 18 months ago. Since then, they have been working out all the details that eventually led to four caravans being hoisted to the roof of their bed-and-breakfast via a large commercial crane. Now the couple have to hook the caravans up to existing plumbing and electric before they are ready for service. They also plan to do some work on the garden as well.

Carla Brooks told the Bristol Post that the roof of the bed-and-breakfast offers the best views of the city. The panoramic view might be partly responsible for inspiring the couple to expand their accommodations upward. They are already taking bookings at prices ranging from £90 to £170 per night.

Offering Something New

The Brooks Guesthouse is already one of the more popular establishments in Bristol, making the addition of the caravans even more reason to pay them a visit on the way through town. Brooks says there has already been a tremendous amount of interest in the accommodations because people are always looking for something new and exciting. Staying in a caravan on the roof of a bed and breakfast is certainly something different.

In the tourism trade, being different and cutting edge is part of the competitive atmosphere of the industry. Hotel and B&B owners are constantly having to look ahead to find the next great thing that will attract new customers. Andrew and Carla Brooks appeared to be very adept and doing so. We suspect their new accommodations will work out very well.

Offering Something Old

Staying on the cutting edge is a necessary part of the tourism industry. However, for companies like ours, concentrating on something old is equally important. For example, we provide training for those who need a special towing licence for their caravan. We have been offering this training for long as we’ve been in business. It’s something that will always be necessary as long as caravans are rumbling down UK roads.

Our training package includes classes designed to make sure you know everything you need to know in order to pass your tests and earn your towing licence. We teach you everything from safe driving to performing a proper vehicle inspection before departing. By the time you complete our classes, you will be ready to take your test with confidence.
