You might never have heard of a 360 excavator, and it might sound like something from the future, but the chances are you’ve seen plenty of them without realising it. And these smart machines could be your ticket to a whole new career that’s fun as well as incredibly useful for society, all with just a few days’ training. 360 excavators are machines that dig up terrain or move large objects during construction, clearing a path for new developments or actively helping to build new structures themselves.

These excavators get their name from the full 360 degree rotation of their platform, meaning you can pick something up with the long boom arm and then have full circular range of movement to put it down anywhere within a 360 degree radius of your vehicle.

Uses of 360 excavators

The above range of motion makes the excavator ideal for many different stages of work in the construction industry. Excavators might be used for digging foundations, for demolition of existing structures, and for general landscaping in preparation for new ones. They can be used to shift materials, to dredge ditches and rivers, and to help lay huge pipes that can supply many homes or businesses. It’s highly unlikely you’ll ever see a construction project that doesn’t use a 360 excavator at all, that’s how essential they are to the creation and maintenance of our landscape.

Excavator operator jobs

Because of their wide range of uses, jobs driving and operator excavators are plentiful, and once you’re trained you’ll be able to apply for jobs all over the country. The average salary for excavators is over £29,000, but once you’re trained and experienced, some of the jobs you can get can pay more than £32,000 per year. And all this is for doing something you probably dreamed of doing even as a child!

All you need to have to be able to start your excavator training is proof that you’re over 18 – that’s it! No prior licences, no experience, nothing. Your 360 excavator training can be completed in as little as 10 days, so within two weeks you could be fully qualified to operate these mighty machines, and ready to hit the job market. If you’ve already decided that 2018 is the year you find your new career, you could achieve that goal faster than you ever thought possible.
