The Stagecoach Group recently announced a jaw-dropping order for hundreds of new vehicles, which will be manufactured primarily in the UK. The £100 million order will involve nearly 570 vehicles, including regional buses to be deployed in England, Scotland, and Wales, along with city buses for London and mega-coaches for use throughout Europe.

The order is expected to create hundreds of new jobs in manufacturing and support services tied to the production of the vehicles. In addition, news reports suggest Stagecoach has plans to invest more than £80 million in new buses targeted specifically at local communities throughout England, Scotland, and Wales. The additional vehicles likely mean more bus driver jobs available within the near future.

All of this comes on the heels of Stagecoach and other transport operators pushing hard to promote public transport as a way of reducing CO2 emissions and traffic congestion. It would seem that their efforts are paying off in most of the major urban areas in the UK. All across the country there are reports of increased ridership leading to the creation of additional bus routes in and around many major cities.

This latest order from Stagecoach increases their overall spending on new vehicles to £545 million in the last seven years. That spending has included having the majority of their new vehicles equipped with the latest technologies, like Wi-Fi. Stagecoach is committed to offering whatever it takes to get people onto the bus and out of their own cars.

More Buses, More Drivers

Undoubtedly, some of the new Stagecoach buses will replace older vehicles that have outlived their usefulness or normal lifespan. Nevertheless, a good number of them will be dedicated to establishing new routes where they are most needed. What does that mean for you? It means more jobs available for bus and coach drivers. It means a greater opportunity for you to embark on a very rewarding career as a commercial driver.

In order to do so, it is necessary for you to undergo bus driver training with a company like ours. The HGV Training Centre is one of the leading providers of commercial driver training in the UK, offering training for a full range of commercial vehicles including buses, coaches, lorries, tipper trucks, heavy construction equipment, horseboxes, and more.
