Well Known Freight Company Adding Hundreds of Drivers

If you’ve been thinking about taking HGV lessons in to become a commercial driver, you will be pleased to know that yet another well-known freight company is hiring. According to HGV Ireland, Waberer’s International is looking at adding 400 HGV drivers to their staff. The company already employs approximately 4,000 drivers to operate a fleet of more than 3,200 trucks.

The need for new professional drivers is the result of a number of combined factors. First and foremost, Waberer’s is planning to purchase an additional 1,300 truck-trailer combinations to add to its fleet. Some of those trucks will replace older vehicles while the others will increase their fleet size. Obviously, more vehicles require more drivers.

Second, the company hopes to spread the workload more evenly among a greater number of drivers in order to improve safety and efficiency. The desire to do so is based on their third reason for hiring: an increase in business thanks to a slowly recovering European economy. Waberer’s has enjoyed double-digit growth since last year.

Right now, the strongest markets for Waberer’s are Germany, Hungary, France, the UK, and Italy. In order to better serve all of Europe, the company is now in the process of establishing subsidiaries in different countries. France is first on the list, followed by the UK and, eventually, Italy and the Netherlands. By setting up the individual subsidiaries, Waberer’s hopes to better manage regional needs.

There has been no word on exactly when Waberer’s will get their recruiting effort under way. We assume it has already begun.
